The children's painting competition “Health protection and prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic” – success beyond expectations

The children's painting competition "Health protection and prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic" has obtained great success beyond expectations; truly becomes a healthy and rewarding playground for pupils, parents and schools to raise awareness of health protection in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic which has many direct impacts on many aspects of education.

Finding "The creative ambassador for school safety"

Due to the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnamese pupils and students spent long vacation, away from schools, friends and teachers. However, with the firm belief that the pupils - the future young generation of the country can contribute to the fight against Covid-19, National Council for Ho Chi Minh Youth Union and Thien Long Group Corporation, Art Supplies (Colokit)  jointly organized the Children's painting competition with theme "Health protection and prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic".

The artwork won the second prize in the competition with titled "For a better life, the world let join hands" of Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan, class 9A7, Binh Chuan Secondary School, Thuan An, Binh Duong

Accordingly, the entries must follow the theme "Health protection and and prevention Covid-19 pandemic". Pupils can choose the following content to show their work: Health care, hygiene maintenance, specific works of children with families, schools and community to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, etc.   The valid works must be paintings that have not been displayed, exhibited or published in publications, books, magazines or on any mass media.

The competition has the participation of the juries who are reputable painters in in fine arts, painting in the country with attractive prize structure. The juries also organized 2 competition tables: Table A (primary school pupils) and Table B (junior high school pupils) to ensure fairness. Each week, the juries will award a total of 20 prizes to 10 winners of each table.

With innocent strokes, the image of the forces fighting the pandemic became sacred and more beautiful than ever. In addition, somewhere still contains the sadness of pupils when witnessing the world sunk in the pandemic. In general, the works have shown a variety of colors, novelties, creations, highlighting the beautiful emotions about the spirit of consensus against the Covid-19 pandemic of the State, the Government and the whole Vietnamese, including the dear pupils.

Many "little" painters with excellent paintings

According to the evaluation of the juries: “The works are quite uniform, good quality, diverse in image, color and extremely creative. The judging members had to be very hesitant to choose the winning works. In particular, the most outstanding and most impressive for us is the picture “Vietnamese train pushes back the COVID-19 pandemicdrawn by Dam Tran Mai Le, a pupils of class 6A1, Lam Dong Secondary School, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city. This is a good artwork with deep meaning and deserves to win the Special prize”.

The painting portrays the spirit of community solidarity in the pandemic fight from the entire political system, citizens, and students. In the picture, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam (on behalf of the Government) head the train, followed by doctors, soldiers, Vietnamese citizens and students. The train is in the process of passing by a number of the nation’s most famous places like Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City, Thien Mu Pagoda (Thua Thien-Hue), Turtle Tower (Hanoi) and proceed to Hai Phong Cultural House (Hai Phong City) - where Dam Tran Mai Le is living. The picture shows the spirit of fighting against the enemy, not only in politics, social organizations, but also in religions, culture and different regions and localities.

Sharing feelings about artwork, Dam Tran Mai Le said: “Right now, I am very happy. I came up with the idea myself. I associate the solidarity of everyone as a train, one carriage after another, all join hands to pushes back  the coronavirus pandemic

In the final winning works, there are many paintings drawn by the primary school pupils who have not been exposed much to social life. However, in the context of the country joining hands against the Covid-19 pandemic, the little pupils expressed their sense of responsibility by spreading the messages and actions to take to protect themselves and the community. Of which, many works have very unique ideas, showing their understanding and belief that Vietnam will win the pandemic.

Positive response from the community

Besides the participation of the pupils, many famous parents such as actress Bao Thanh, actor Hong Dang, MC VTV Minh Trang, are also very supportive of the contest. They all evaluate that the competition was a useful activity for the children during days off from the pandemic, facilitating opportunities for parents and children to create art together as well as raise the sense of responsibility for the community of the children.

Sharing thoughts on personal facebook, MC Minh Trang said: “Instead of explaining it summarily, I encourage my child- Daisy to find out and research information about the pandemic so that she can gain knowledge and self-awareness in pandemic prevention activities. Therefore, when I told the contest, when she finished reading the content, she came up with the idea."

Thien Long Group Corporation succeeds in spreading good messages to society

The children's painting competition "Health protection and prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic" partly reflects the contribution of Vietnamese children to the prevention of Covid-19. The creative and full emotion paintings of these pupils both express the spirit of solidarity and responsibility from the young generation, and inspire, contribute the strength to the whole nation in the days of fighting with the historical pandemic. It shows that the program has been very successful, creating excitement, being a good environment for children to show their ability to create, gifted in painting and patriotism, join hand towards the belief of winning the Covid- 19 pandemic. Through this competition, Thien Long Group Corporation also showed people more clearly about the role of children in facing big problems of the nation. Children themselves can also contribute their small strength to spread meaningful things, contribute to building a better community and society.
